Our Band

Manjusri Concert Band had a new start since 2009. Our Alumnus , Mr Ed Tan and Mr Yeo Jie Yuan, have joined us in strength assuming the role of music directors for our band.

Focusing on enriching the members in music, discipline, leadership and developing strong esprit de corps, the band organises camps, music exchange programmes and workshops to improve the skills of its members.

Under new directives, our band will be looking forward to performing in the Singapore Youth Festival 2011.

Short message

Dear band members,

18th March's sound check was not bad, but I know you guys can do even better than that! As on the SYF that day, we only can perform once and no chances are given for the mistakes that you have played. Most of us have the same aims/goals for this SYF. I hope every one of us work hard together and do our very best. Also putting in our 100% focus into every practices.

Please apply what the conductors have said on the pieces. Important things are to feel the pulse, flow with the music and express it out. Lift up your instruments and move along with the music. It will be beautiful, if every one of you do it. It's no use when only some of them move along and the others just sit still. Shaping the music and look at the conductor and try not stare at the scores. Don't you guys want to make the audiences feel touched, giving them goose bumps or excite them?

The leaders and I will appreciate if you guys coorporate with us. We do not want to shout at you, you guys are young adults. Have some sense of urgency, responsibility and discipline. Lend a helping hand to your section mates or band mates when they need it most. It will be better to help others than to let them ask for help. We will be grateful if you lend a helping hand. Lets do our best and efforts will pay off.

Stephanie
